who is Francesca Calloni

Francesca Calloni short Bio

I have been an AFS exchange student in New Zealand in 1990 (year program) and graduated in arabic language and literature at Ca' Foscari (Venice)in 2000. I have started my journey in oriental dance in 2000, and never stopped since. I have attended weekly courses and workshops, to deepen my knowledge of oriental dance. The teachers/dancers that affected me the most in these years are Mona Habib and Suhaila Salimpour, I am currently Jamila Level 1 and Suhaila L2 certified and studing to obtain the teaching certificate in both formats. I have obtained the Teaching Certificate at Raqia Hassan Intensive winter course in Cairo.
In december 2011 I have completed my training as Danzeducatore, based on Laban's dance ideas and technique. I strongly believe that technique is just one part of a dancer's training, the heart, the passion and the culture have to be there as well, for this reason my teaching method also proposes improvisation techniques and educational/community dance approach  I have also published articles and short stories on different topics. I am currently the president of Contaminadanza association.

Co-author of the book on oriental dance "Danze orientali. Evoluzioni in movimento"
