weekly classes with Francesca Calloni based and inspired on the Jamila and Suhaila Salimpour formats

After studing Oriental Dance for some years, in 2007 I attended for the first time a workshop with Suhaila Salimpour, since then a new world has open up for me, and I have started to follow the online classes and her workshops, when possible. This year for the first time I had the opportunity to follow the workshops directly at the Mothership, in California, and it has been an amazing experience and a great boost to my development as an artist and a dancer. For this reason from this year I have decided (with the consent of the Salimpour School) to propose classes based on the Suhaila Salimpour and on the Jamila Salimpour format, along with my other classes (folk based classes, Creative dance based on Rudolph Laban's works, etc..) because the Salimpour Formats give a deep view not only on technique, but also on the history and historical development of this art. The Salimpour Format has a professional approach on the art of Oriental Dance, something we definitely need to raise the level of our dance in the in the public eye.

My classes based and inspired on the Salimpour Format will be:

• lessons based on the Suhaila Salimpour format: class composition including warm-up, technique, vocabulary and nomenclature from the Suhaila Salimpour format (vocabulary and nomenclature are in english to facilitate students in following future workshops and dance education in the Salimpour formats). 
• Lessons based on the Jamila Salimpour format: vocabulary of step families based on the Jamila Salimpour Format, and technique and nomenclature from the Suhaila Salimpour, based on the Jamila and Suhaila Salimpour formats (vocabulary and nomenclature are in english to facilitate students in following future workshops and dance education in the Salimpour formats). The Jamila Salimpour format is vintage belly dance, the basis for both American classical cabaret and traditional tribal. Lessons will require the use of cymbals.

Francesca is currently Jamila Level 1 and Suhaila Level 2 Certified and is working towards her teaching certificate in both Formats.
